'shakyground' (2025) uses shadow, light, and sculpted metal to explore the cultural and psychological consequences of vertical architecture. What do we sacrifice in our pursuit of height? What lies beyond the reach of light? For thousands of years, humans have been obsessed with building taller and taller structures to show our desire for power, control, and permanence. Skyscrapers are territorial markers asserting dominance while casting shadows over the landscapes and lives beneath them. These vertical super tall structures give deep satisfaction to psychological, cultural, economic, technological, and symbolic needs. We are always trying to prove how strong and advanced we are by creating vertical declarations from underground to the highest sky. But as we reach ever higher, what falls into darkness?
