Aiyi Cheng (b. 2000, Beijing), also known as AY266, is an interdisciplinary artist and model based between Los Angeles and Providence | Raised in Beijing, she moved to California at the age of fourteen | She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in Fine Art from ArtCenter College of Design in 2023 and is currently pursuing a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree in Digital+Media at Rhode Island School of Design (2024-present) Cheng makes work about comfort in danger, confronting fears to create transformative installations, performances, sound, and metal sculptures | In addition to her art practice, Cheng extends her body as an extension of her medium, using her career as a model to illustrate the interplay between soft emotion and distortion | Her work ultimately seeks to transform personal fear into collective sensory experience | Cheng has collaborated with brands, designers, artists, and magazines, and has appeared on runways, in music videos, and in short films | Her artworks have been featured in solo and group exhibitions across the U.S. |
