Aiyi Cheng (b. 2000, Beijing), also known as AY266, is an interdisciplinary artist, model, and digital media artist living & working across Los Angeles, New York, and Providence | Born and raised in Beijing, moved to California in 2015 | Earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree from Fine Art Department at ArtCenter College of Design (ACCD) in spring, 2023 | Currently (2024-present) pursuing her Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree in Digital + Media Department at Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) | Cheng makes work about comfort in danger, confronting fears to create immersive interactive installations, performances, sound pieces, and hard edge metal sculptures | Her paintings and digital metal prints center on flowing imagery set against color field backgrounds and her sound work delivers ambient sound with hard dance floor energy | In addition to her art practice, Cheng applies her body as an extension of her medium, using her career as a model to illustrate the interplay between soft emotion and distortion | Cheng has collaborated with numerous brands, designers, artists, and magazines, and has appeared on runways, in music videos, and in short films | Her artworks has been featured in solo and group exhibitions across the U.S. |
