moon hits the mirrorball, 2022

︎ Sound installation & sculpture

‘moon hits the mirrorball’ (2022) is a personal exploration of my relationship with underground rave scenes and techno music, combining sound with a series of handmade sculptures. Using materials like stainless steel, balloons, nails, epoxy resin, wire, metal chains, plastic wire cables, candles, and glass, the sculptures reflect the tension between the fragility of personal emotions and the raw, industrial energy of Techno.

Sound plays a central role in the installation, delivered through powered speakers or a PA system to create a visceral and immersive auditory experience. The sound isn’t just heard—it’s felt, becoming a tangible presence that connects with the sculptures and the space.

The sculptures are arranged on an unadorned, industrial floor, embracing a raw and unpolished aesthetic that mirrors the spirit of Techno culture. The setting, ideally private or semi-private, heightens the intensity of the sound and fosters a more intimate connection between the audience and the installation.

This work offers a reflection on Techno, not just as a genre but as a lived experience—a mix of memories, emotions, and sounds that have shaped my creative expression. Through the interplay of sound and sculpture, the project tells a story about the soulful, rugged essence of Techno as I’ve experienced it, blending personal vulnerability with the music’s powerful, industrial edge.
