︎ Interactive sound installation

'concentrate' (2022) is a sound installation that explores the idea of “imaginary space sound.” Unlike previous works inspired by music, this piece reverses the process by creating sound that reflects the spatial qualities of Cheng’s paintings. Rooted in the stillness of night, the work pairs a looping ambient soundtrack with a transparent hanging sculpture made from resin, rope, sugar, salt, metal, and found materials. Together, sound and form create an immersive environment that captures rhythm, transparency, and the shifting states of consciousness in her practice.
