'indifferent' (2024) is a half-hour performance examining the psychological effects of avoidance and self-defense. Set in a dim, transitional space, the installation combines emotionless lighting with metal sculptures that mirror the fragmented state of a bedroom, half refuge, half confinement. The performer(Aiyi) wears time-sensitive jewelry made of ice and imitation blood, suspended with metal chains. As the ice melts, it chills, scratches, and stains the skin, transforming restraint into an intimate act of exposure and gradual release.

Melting ice runs thick into blood on your skin like muddy water. The body temperature drops, and the pain and frozenness come: bear it, play the room, and let the metal scratch the skin.
Feel the coldness and discomfort, it was once you wanted; It wets your hair, ruins your clothes, and dyes your hands and legs red for days to be fully washed off.
Will you find comfort in danger? (?)
You thought it was at ease. You consume all that excitement it[relation/object/addiction/act/…] gives you.
Bright. Intense. Enormous.
The inner chaos grapples with that messy puddle of red liquid. You are a glittery, bloody figure now who barely recognizes themselves.
Does the pain last forever?
Will it keep dripping?
